Andy Crossley

I am able to help with: Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Low mood, Relationships, Bereavement, Anger, Career issues, Identity, Trauma, Obsessive thoughts

About me: Are you looking for greater understanding of yourself and the experiences you have faced?
Do you want to make meaningful change in your life?
From More personal experience, I know how difficult life can be at times and how challenging it is to cope with our thoughts, feelings and emotions.
You may be struggling with bereavement, grief and loss or struggling with issues around your identity. Anxiety and depression could be holding you back from getting on with life. Coping with unresolved feelings of anger or suicidal thoughts can seem impossible. These are all areas in which I have personal interest as well as extensive experience working with.
Given how complex and overwhelming things can feel, it can be difficult to talk to our family and friends about our problems; it is often easier to speak to someone who is not emotionally involved in our lives. As a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist, I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you will be listened to and actively heard.
My therapy practice views you as the unique expert in your own life. Working together, we can help you explore and have a greater understanding of yourself, the experiences, and the issues you have faced. You will be able to express yourself freely in a safe therapeutic environment. Through the empathy and support received, you can gain greater self-acceptance to make meaningful change and discover your true authentic self.
I also have a particular interest in the impact on mental health because of ill health. This is a result of my personal experience of living with a chronic health condition. Coming to terms with, accepting and subsequently living with ill-health was a challenge and had a significant impact on my mental wellbeing.
Fortunately, I sought the help and support of a therapist. From personal experience, I fully understand the benefit counselling can bring in helping people get through dark times. Therapy helped me gain self-acceptance and supported me to make positive changes and achieve personal growth in my life.

About me: It is so important that the counsellor you pick is someone you feel comfortable with. It can be tricky to judge this, so let me tell you a bit about More myself.
I have been a busy mum for the last 14 years and have juggled motherhood alongside working in a fast-paced clinical setting for 12 of those years. I have also volunteered as a foster carer, which has brought a wealth of experience and understanding.
I have experience providing counselling in a community setting, for GP practices and I have also facilitated group psychoeducation courses.
I am a christian but provide counselling to those of all faiths and none. I have been through my own journey with the church and appreciate that people can feel judged or rejected by it. It is crucial to me that my clients experience a non-judgemental, warm and welcoming space.
I know how daunting speaking to a counsellor can feel, but I also know that once I got over my initial nerves I found counselling really helped to get me “unstuck” from the place that I was in. I want to offer that to you too.
This passion for mental health started with my own personal experiences but grew during my training as a foster carer. I found it amazing that there is so much knowledge about how people work and wellbeing, but most of us will never be taught it.
I believe that “people make sense” and I am committed to valuing your own unique story.

About me: I qualified as an integrative therapist over 14 years ago following on from the birth of my second child. I have always been passionate about More supporting and championing others to fulfil their full potential and to be able to find ways to overcome the hurdles within their life. Within my training it became apparent that I had a significant connection with people and that I am able to immerse myself in their world and the issues that come with it.
Whilst I trained as an integrative counsellor using CBT, psychodynamic and person centred theory I now see myself as a bit of a magpie, taking tools and techniques, that I believe work well, from lots of different approaches to build a tailored individual service to each of my clients.
As a therapist I do not feel that I am the person that will tell you what to do, I see you as the expert of your world. I instead see myself as a facilitator or guide that will travel alongside you on this journey. I may make suggestions as to how to improve things but overall I will be giving you the space, time and safety to find your own resolutions or answers to improve your life.
Outside of my time here I support people with visible differences as well as currently learning more about hypnotherapy. I am an avid reader and love a jigsaw as well as spending time with my family.
If you feel ready to start your journey, I am here to begin it with you.

About me: With so many demands on your time, it’s easy to find yourself at the bottom of your priority list. There’s always something or someone that needs More your attention, so the idea of self-care may seem like an indulgence that you just don’t have time for I find that life has a way of making us stop and listen, whether that be through a physical or mental health concern, family or relationship difficulty, problems at work or a major life event.
I’m here to help you through these challenges.
You deserve to be heard. You deserve to be listened to. That’s where counselling comes in. Walking into my therapy room, you’ll be met with a genuine warmth and empathy. The transformative power of being accepted, just as you are, without judgement and of being truly seen and heard, is like no other. Often people wonder what they’ll find to talk about or whether their problems are really ‘big enough’. Believe me when I say there’s no problem too big or too small. In our sessions, I will help you to explore what’s going on emotionally so that you can find out what’s lying underneath any uncomfortable feelings. It’s a journey of self-discovery and in my experience, a journey that leads to an enhanced feeling of wellbeing.
I know that taking that first step can be daunting. I’ve been there too. My aim is to make that step as easy as possible.

About me: I am a pluralistic counsellor, drawing from different approaches to find the best fit for each client at their particular moment, centring the work More around the relationship and following the client’s pace and preferences. Previously, I studied psychology and did a Master’s in Neuropsychology, integrating this view into the whole process. I also draw from compassion practices as a source of healing, and I am always mindful of the impact of society on individuals; we are all included in a bigger picture, and sometimes these influences play a decisive role in a particular issue. Finally, I incorporate creative work and frequently use drawings, paintings, creative writing and stories as a tool with clients. Altogether there are many approaches that I can use so that we can work at your pace and way to follow your journey.

About me: Sometimes the cycle of life keeps on going around and we can recognise the need to stop. Life can be really difficult and can often lead you to feel More overwhelmed and alone.
Becoming a therapist came from a place of being overwhelmed and alone and wanting to be the person that sometimes we all need. I will always give my best to support those that are in need and offer a warm and caring environment to talk these difficulties through.
One of my key aspects of counselling is the relationship. Building a strong relationship is key and is one of my best attributes.
All of my experience and work with clients have developed my counselling style and become adaptable for those I work with. I believe having an outlet to discuss your worries and life problems can be a big help and often takes that weight off those heavy shoulders. Many of my clients find themselves laughing through their sessions and actually enjoy talking and sharing.
I have worked with those aged 6 to 68 for all kinds of reasons including anxiety, depression, self-harm, parental issues, adoptive families, those in the care system, family troubles, relationship problems, intimacy concerns and so much more. My training has always been integrated counselling meaning my toolbox is extensive and my practice tailored to suit those I am working with.
I look forward to working with you, supporting you on your journey and being that safe space that we often need.
